The King's Bastard is a bold, single-origin handbrew coffee from the Wubanchi region. This blend of heirloom coffees is so audacious it defies its royal roots, perfect for those who rebel against the ordinary. The coffee grows at altitudes between 2000 and 2200 metres and is processed using a method called "supernatural," which is an enhanced version of the natural drying process. After being hand-picked daily, the cherries undergo drying on raised beds for 15 to 20 days, with moisture levels carefully monitored to achieve a balanced flavour profile. The result is a coffee with layers of fruity depth and clean, refreshing notes.
Drinking Notes
- Strawberry Jam: This coffee begins with the rich sweetness of strawberry jam, bringing forward sugary berry notes.
- Ripe Mango Sour: Following the strawberry, the ripe mango sour adds a luxurious, slightly tangy depth with a touch of wine-like complexity.
- Korean Pear: The finish offers crisp, fresh notes of Korean pear, delivering a clean and refined aftertaste.
Why You'll Appreciate It
- Supernatural Process: A refined drying method that promotes natural fermentation, contributing to a complex and layered flavour profile.
- Distinct Flavours: The combination of strawberry jam, ripe mango sour, and Korean pear offers a balance of fruity richness and fresh clarity.
- Monitored Drying: The cherries are carefully dried over 15 to 20 days, ensuring consistency in moisture levels for a well-rounded cup.
