Introducing Royal Reserve, a distinguished single-origin coffee from the high-altitude farms of Gera in the Oromia region. This coffee is a testament to the dedication of smallholder farmers, who grow it organically on plots less than a hectare in size, nestled alongside their vegetable gardens. With no chemical fertilisers or pesticides, the coffee is cultivated using sustainable methods. After harvest, the cherries are meticulously washed, pulped, and fermented for 48 to 72 hours—longer than usual to accommodate the cool, high-altitude climate—enhancing its complex flavour profile. The beans are then sun-dried on raised beds, carefully shielded during peak hours to prevent over-drying.

Drinking Notes

  • Grapefruit: A lively burst of grapefruit zest starts the experience, offering a tangy, slightly bitter citrus note that awakens your senses.
  • Raisin: The sun-dried sweetness of raisins adds a rich, balancing contrast to the bright citrus, softening the intensity of the grapefruit.
  • Black Tea: The finish is deep and tannic, with the comforting earthiness of black tea, creating a refined and rich drinking experience.

Why You'll Love It

  • Sustainably Grown: Produced without chemical fertilisers, pesticides, or herbicides, this coffee is organically grown by smallholder farmers using environmentally friendly practices.
  • Enhanced Flavour from Extended Fermentation: The beans undergo an extended fermentation of up to 72 hours, developing a richer, more complex flavour profile.
  • Inspired by Royal Tradition: Named after the "dark honey" once reserved for Gera’s royalty, this coffee is fit for those who appreciate the finer things in life.
