Lot 624 from Uwu Village, Flores: Kartika, 1,300 metres, 48 hours in sealed anaerobic tanks, then dried whole cherry. Shorter fermentation than Lot 583, darker profile — black date sweetness, a bright shot of Valencia orange, and a rhubarb tartness that keeps it sharp. The same Flores highlands, the same producer, a completely different night out.

The Story
Before Tuang Coffee, Manggarai beans disappeared into anonymous blended lots — mixed with Sumatra, Java, or Toraja and sold as commodity grade. Andre Tuang founded Tuang Coffee in 2014 to change that, separating every lot by village, variety, and process and taking them directly to the specialty market. Lot 624 is Uwu Village: distinct origin, distinct character.
At 48 hours, the anaerobic fermentation produces something different from the longer 48-hour lots: darker, more structured, with the rhubarb edge and black date depth that give this coffee its particular kick. Indonesian night markets work the same way — many different stalls, each with something distinct, the whole experience more than the sum of its parts.
In the Cup
Black dates on the nose — deep, dark sweetness. Valencia orange follows in the cup, bright and vivid against the dark fruit base. Rhubarb tartness on the finish keeps it honest. Dense and layered; the kind of coffee that rewards slow drinking and a second cup.
