The Story
The Kvenenka lot from Ijen, East Java is not a typical Indonesian coffee. Ijen’s high elevation and volcanic soils — the same conditions that produce the region’s distinctive mineral character — yield a natural-processed lot with more transparency and fruit clarity than you’d expect from the origin. It is the kind of Indonesian coffee that surprises espresso drinkers who assume the country produces only deep, earthy, heavy-bodied cups.
The Poços de Caldas Brazilian component — sourced from the same volcanic caldera region as our Redeemer single-origin — provides zero-defect sweetness and body. It grounds the blend and carries it through milk without dulling the fruit. The ratio is deliberate: fruit punch needs enough punch to be worth the name.
In the Cup
Black: Apricot and pineapple lead — vivid tropical fruit with a clean, refreshing character. Papaya adds warmth in the mid-palate. Direct and bright.
With milk: Crème brûlée sweetness emerges, with caramel and a tropical brightness at the finish. The fruit softens into something creamy and deeply satisfying.
