Kochere is southwest of the town of Yirgacheffe and near a little village of Chelelektu in the Gedeo zone. While a “classic” Yirgacheffe coffee, all of the sub regions tend to have their own flavour profiles. Adado – stone fruit, Konga – citrus and stone fruit, and for Kochere, it is a strong fruit tea that comes along with the citrus and stone fruit. This beautiful, washed coffee is prepared at the Alemu Washing Station in the Mendero Mountains. Alemu is one of several coffee preparation stations that is a part of the Kochere Coffee Cooperative, comprised of approximately 500 farmers.
